My vacation

I have returned from a long absence to Corpus Cristi, TX. It was AWESOME! first we stayed in this really cool cabin in Rockport, TX. That's where my grandpa lives. Amazingly we got the coolest and the largest cabin. We had a TV with over 102 channels and as an added bonus we got the cabin that was right next to my grandpa's RV. The day after that we went to the beach in Rockport. The water there was Salty!! If you took just a gulp of it I can almost guarantee that you would HURL!. Yeah it was that bad. And you're talking to the guy that did it. Yes I know I'm brave and it's kinda dumb too but it wouldn't of happened if my dad hadn't dunked me underwater. So the day after that we went to the aquarium and this was a COOL! place you could touch stingrays! You could go down into this underwater viewing place where you could see dolphins. This is a picture of me and my brothers and sister and me at the entrance of the aquarium standing next to the whale fluke fountain.

Then after the aquarium we went to a Mexican restaurant. Then we went to the U.S.S. Lexington it was so cool! we saw a pearl harbor exhibit then we went and took 4 other tours. One tour was the bridge of the ship and another part of the tour led to escalators that were original to the ship. The ship was so big it had its own zip code! This ship was used in world war 2 and was used until 1992 where it was turned into a museum. It also had a barber shop, postal office, and dental office and much more. Here's the picture of the Lexington. Then we stood on the aircraft landing platform when we looked on the edge we saw tons of jelly fish and people were not far from were the jelly fish were. After that we passed by this huge bridge that can be seen from 10 miles away! When I saw this bridge I was like whoa! And my dad told me that my grandpa used to go down this bridge on an old skateboard. One that had metal wheels not the plastic ones on today's skateboards (my grandpa went down this bridge a lot back in 1965) here's the picture of the bridge (we were on the Lexington)The next day my dad took me and my sister and my brothers to see his old house, his school, and his grandpa's dry cleaners. We weren't able to get a picture of his house (because people live there now) but we were able to get a picture of his school and the dry cleaners.
This is another picture It's me in front of my Great grandpa's dry cleaners (this is where my grandpa my dad's dad used to come and hang out)But it was locked so we couldn't get in(bummer). We also saw the first Whataburger ( but the weird thing is is that it looked like a regular Whataburger). Then my dad showed me where he used to walk to the store with his grandma. We saw a bunch of other things. Over all this trip was one of the best trips I've been to in a long time.

Until the next time...

Dallas Heritage Village

This is a really cool place I work here as a junior historian if you want to become a junior historian you have to take a brief summary about your life why you want to become a junior historian and why you like to interact with people . then all you have to do is go up there for the class (the details are on the website). But if you just want to just want to come to look at the buildings and have a picnic you can do that too here's the website so you can look at it for yourself http://dallasheritagevillage.org/
And if you just want to become a volunteer just do the brief summary and your a volunteer. Although when I asked about it they said they would like people 13 and up to become volunteers but that doesn't mean that you can't become a Junior historian. If you can please go here you won't be making a mistake. You can also become a member (details are on the website)in different levels this place is so cool trust me we also have school field trips, weddings, and birthday parties. They also have people dress up in actual time period clothing!!!!!! is that cool or what. They also have this thing called village academy the spring classes are over but they have summer ones if you choose to do these classes you better hurry because they go fast well that's all I got for now.

until the next time............

p.s. I'm the only boy in this picture!

Assassinations

Jun. 18, 2007

Do you know why Teddy Roosevelt survived his 2 terms? a metal eye glass case and a 50 page speech speech the bullet was stopped and after that the first page was held up for the crowd to see his words were "I will make this speech or die". Things like that have saved the presidents life time and time again. But here's the most intriguing that has saved the one of the presidents life. Andrew Jackson was at a funeral when a gun appeared at his chest the shots were fired. Andrew waited for the musket balls to hit him but they didn't why? because the Balls had fallen in the Assassin's pocket. Also Franklin D. Roosevelt was doing a campaign rally when a bullet hit the wall of the train boxcar that he was standing in. The train immediately took off. A witness standing by said the train took off like lightning. Another thing happened when McKinley was killed he didn't die because of a bullet he died because he didn't drink enough water!!!!!!!!!!!!. But he would have died quicker if he had undone his button on his shirt. The button saved his life!. After Ronald Reagen was shot every President has worn a bullet proof vest.

Plumbing Diasaster! and other stories

May. 4, 2007

It all started when I was getting ready for church on Wednesday. some guys came to our house and said we had a leak. my mom called my dad and told my dad that we had a leak. so we went to my guitar lessons and we went to church then all of the sudden we heard the sirens. the pastor went outside and he heard the policeman say "the British are coming the British are coming" Just kidding he said "seek shelter theres been a tornado touch down in Combine (not football). we got in the Hallway and stayed there for about 10 minutes! well everybody else left but me and my brothers and sisters and mom and some friends of ours. so we went back home and everything was still there(thankfully). so now your probably asking did you get your water back no so me and my dad worked on it so while my dad was working on the pipe me and my sister and brother were playing in the mud. so we went inside to clean up just then we think man we don't have any water. so my dad goes and turns on the water and water comes spewing out of my mom's bathroom so then we had to steamclean the floor well I think that's enough for one day right wrong. The next day I went to help my dad with the plumbing well to make a long story short we went to Home Depot twice before we could fix the problem Gotta go my dad's playing my favorite song on his ipod

until the next time I take a shower......

My Birthday

Jan. 23, 2007

On Friday I went to this thing called Kid's Night Out. They had bounce houses and I made a boat (which I left there).

On Saturday, we were supposed to have a family party, but the weather was bad. My Grandfather, Grandmother, Grandpa Salinas, and my Grandma and Grandpa were supposed to come. But, my Grandma and Grandpa were the only ones that came because they wanted to brave the storm. We had a great time.

  • I got $5 on a Starbucks gift card. I bought a Strawberries and Cream Frappucino and it was sooooo good! But, I left it in the car.

  • My parents got me 2 books from Lamplighter Publishers:

  • My Grandfather and Grandmother got me a guitar. This picture really isn't accurate, but it is something like the guitar:

  • My Grandma and Grandpa gave me: 20 bucks. I'm going to spend some and save some
  • My Aunt gave me: $5.
And that's what I got for my birthday! I'm a very blessed kid because my birthday is a next door neighbor to Christmas.

As General Douglas MacArthur would say "I shall return."

My Birthday Camping Trip

Jan. 10, 2007

On Friday, my dad and I are going to Cooper Lake State Park in the South Sulphur unit. We are going to be staying in a cabin. It has a refrigerator, microwave, bunk beds - but we have to bring our own sheets. It also has an heater and an air conditioner.

We are staying there for 2 nights and 3 days. This is what I am doing instead of a birthday party.

We are going to go hiking, fishing, geocaching, and we are going to start Bible study called Plants Grown Up. I'm going to start packing tomorrow because my dad works nights and we are going to leave as soon as he wakes up - 10:30!

There will be no little brother's diapers to change, no diaper bags to pack, just me and my dad!!

Until the next time...

Hook, Line, and Sister

Oct. 25, 2006

One time, we were camping. My dad, my sister, my brother, and I were going fishing. My sister was fixing to cast her fishing pole, but I cast mine first and I got it right through her finger. She cried and yelled, and I was like "why are you crying?" and then I saw her finger. It was bleeding from the hook. I was like "oh, my gosh, I'm so sorry!" It was the first time I had hooked anybody.

Then, as she got it from her hand, she was then getting her fishing pole out of the way. I moved a bit so that I wouldn't do it again. I cast my line out into the water. My sister was taking out her line. She was going to move, too. And then, I hooked her again!

So, that's why, if anyone asks me to go fishing, I will decline. And she says she is never going to go fishing again, either.

I just thought I would bring that up, since she brought up my little underwear fiasco.

Paintball

Sep. 4, 2006

Paintball

Tomorow, my grandma and grandpa are coming over to visit for Labor Day. Later in the afternoon, my dad and I are going to play paintball. I'm saving up my allowance so that me and my dad can actually play at the Rockwall Paintball Park - but it costs $50 for us to get in. My parents have me to pay for some of my entry fee.

I like Paintball because it is a sport that is fun and requires guns, but no one really gets hurt. I have a paintball gun that my grandpa bought for me. A little while ago I did a checklist over all my paintball equipment to get ready for the game, tomorrow.

This is what you need to play paintball:

  • You have to have a paintball marker (gun) or you can rent one.
  • You must have a mask so that you won't get hit in the face.
  • A chest protector is highly recommended by me, but is optional.
  • You must have paintballs. You can have different colors, but if you are playing against one other person, you can use 1 color.
  • These are the clothes that you need to wear. Do not wear orange, red, or yellow, because you will stick out like a sore thumb. You need to wear pants if you are going to be in a wooded area (like my big backyard - 10 acres).
This is how paintball is played:

  • It is sort of like hide and go seek, only with a weapon.
  • You hide behind whatever you can find (trees, cars, stacks of tires, old fallen trees, bushes, tall grass, etc.)
  • You shoot at your opponent. For those that have seen LOTR, you make an ambush attack.
  • Some people play in teams, I play solo against my dad, or against my uncle.
  • Most importantly DO NOT WALK IN THE HOUSE WITH PAINT ALL OVER YOU - Your mom will die!
p.s. Does anybody else here participate in paintball?

Figure sock skating

Figure sock skating

This takes days of practice. Lucky for me I made it up. In case your wondering what in the world is sock skating, well let me tell you. If you have a kitchen at home (which you probably do), take a pair of socks then put them on (of course). Skate like you would ice skate and you just sock skated.

This is really fun!

Me at Dealy Plaza

Jul. 11, 2006

Me at Dealy Plaza

This is me at Dealy Plaza (where John F. Kennedy was assassinated). The 6th floor museum is a great place to learn about JFK's assassination. I loved that field trip. We rented a guided tour that you listen to. They explained the pictures and we also go to see a model of Oswald shooting JFK.

There are many different theories about who shot JFK. Two men were smoking behind a fence and one woman claimed that they were holding pistols. Some say there was a railroad worker working and he got shot by one of the bullets, right in the cheek - ouch!

I think Oswald was eating fried chicken and standing in the book depository and shot JFK by himself.

some funny jokes

Some funny jokes

Here are some real funny jokes that I learned. Enjoy. These actually came off of our bathroom Dixie cups.

What stars go to jail?..... shooting stars

Spell mouse trap in three letters...... c-a-t

What keeps your teeth together?.... toothpaste

Why did the orange stop in the middle of the road?... because it ran out of juice

What fish is famous?... a star fish

Why did the golfer wear two pairs of pants?... just in case he got a hole in one

What animals are well educated?... fish because they go around in schools

Where does a vampire go to take a bath?... in a batroom

Hahahaha - laugh will ya!

my history magazines

Jul. 9, 2006

my history magazines

I received my first history magazine this week - Learning Through History.

I love these magazines. They are filled with neat facts about the American Revolution. Did you know that Gen. Benedict Arnold betrayed America to join the British? What a back stabber if you ask me. I also collect coins. I have a new set that my grandpa gave to me. I have been working on it for quite a while. It is a set of wheat pennies. I also have been watching a show called The Presidents. It's a very neat show. I hardly get to watch it, because everybody wants to watch something else and I'm the only one who likes this show.
